LBC: Who inspires you in Lolita?

fevereiro 06, 2015
Hello!

It's been a long time since my last LBC post. In fact, it's been a long time since my last post written in English! But today I'm correcting that. I've made a post about lolitas that inspire me before, and here are another 3 lovely ladies with a superb sense of style.

Obsixwi

I am fascinated by Obsixwi's completely black wardrobe (with tiny bits of white and grey). She wears exclusively kuro lolita, and it is glorious.

Thanks to the color limitation, her outfits rely on a lot of different textures, subtle black-on-black prints, and interesting designs.

Her coords are a great inspiration on how to bring out all the little details in the clothes, instead of going heavy-handed with the accessories and jewelry.

Also she seems like a nice person and her cat is adorable.

Fanny is a beautiful canadian lady with a vintage style. She wears many fashions other than lolita, always with that classy vintage look.

This is why I think she is a great inspiration: she gives lolita fashion her own spin, and makes it something that reflects her personality - instead of worrying too much about rules and guidelines.

With a wardrobe like this, it seems easier to mix-and-match pieces from different styles, since they all have a common thread.

Siriusc

Marie is a french lolita who posts these beautiful, artistic pictures of her coords. She wears a lot of black and white, and also aristocrat.

Many of her outfits have a historical vibe, and she invests in awesome headwear: hats, crowns, huge corsages and veils.

She inspires me because her outfits manage to be bold and interesting without being over-the-top. She chooses great main pieces and the right accessories to balance them out.

One other thing I like about these ladies is that all of them rock their natural hair! Nowadays it almost seems like wearing a wig is an obligation, but these pictures prove otherwise.

Recently I've felt like I need to bring my wardrobe a step up, and writing this post actually helped me find a direction to follow.

LBCs traduzidos!

dezembro 17, 2013
Oi oi!

Lolita coord under $100

Outfit rundown:

There and Back Again

♦ Entrevista com o Vampiro, de Anne Rice

Claudia

E aí, qual foi o seu preferido?
Espero que tenham gostado e até a próxima!

LBC: Book Inspired Coordinations

novembro 15, 2013
Hello!

For this week's Lolita Blog Carnival I chose two books: one of my all-time favorites, and a book I haven't read yet but plan to (hopefully, soon!).

The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien

I love this book. It takes place in Tolkien's complex and fantastic universe, but is a much lighter read than the Lord of the Rings trilogy. My favorite race is the Dwarves, but I tried to include a little bit of every culture in the coord and the overall feeling of Middle Earth. The main point is lots of diverse textures and somewhat unusual colors for Lolita.
There and Back Again

Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice

I watched the movie recently and fell in love with it. My plan is to read all the books in the Vampire Chronicles series. This is a pretty straightforward coordinate, mainly inspired by child vampire Claudia. Red is for blood and the dark blue represents the indigo plantation one of the characters had. There are a few other references (the mouse, crosses, coffin) in the little details.
Claudia

I hope you liked these coordinates! The second one was quite easy to put together, but the first one gave me quite a lot of trouble. Finding the right balance between Lolita and murky Middle Earth was hard. This was a really fun topic, though!

LBC: 1 item, 5 outfits

setembro 27, 2013
Hello everyone!

This week's LBC theme is: "Take 1 Staple Item and Make 5 Different Outfits".
I believe red is one of the most versatile non-neutral colors out there - it's also my favorite color! Because of this, I chose a relatively neutral Metamorphose JSK in red to create these 5 outfits:

♦ Classical outfit
Classic
By picking elegant items in cream/ivory, a few golden accents and matching shoes I achieved this Classical Lolita outfit. To keep it interesting, the tights and bag both have prints on them.

♦ Gothic outfit
Gothic
Using only black complements, this Gothic coord was created. Black is a great opportunity to use textures: lace, faux-fur, velvet, printed tights and leather work on the shoes.

♦ Sweet outfit
Sweet
Red and sax isn't a combination I see very often in Lolita, so I decided to try it out. I used white sparingly. The berry print headbow brings the whole thing together.

♦ Sailor outfit
Sailor
Only the main piece and the hair accessories are from Lolita brands. I wanted to do something that had red, black and white. These 3 colors go really well together!

♦ Old-school inspired outfit
Old-school Red
Wearing every piece in such a strong color isn't very common at all, but I thought it might look cute - specially with a bit of an "Old-school" touch. I tried to keep it neutral, not necessarily part of any sub-style.

Please leave your opinions on which outfit you liked the most in the comments below!
I hope to see you next time :)

LBC: Design a Complete Coordinate for Only $100

setembro 20, 2013
Hello!
For Lolita Blog Carnival's first anniversary post, the challenge is to design a complete coordinate for under $100. It was a bit hard, and I kind of cheated a little (tee-hee!) but so much fun to do!
I decided not to fiddle with Taobao so that this would be easy for a beginner lolita to buy.

Lolita coord under $100

Outfit rundown:

Wine hat from Fun+Friend for U$10.46
Floral JSK from Bodyline for ¥2,499
Brown cardigan from Bodyline for ¥1,499
Knee socks from Fun+Friend for U$5.28
Petticoat from MeLikesTea for R$40 (the one pictured is only an example)
Shoes from Bodyline for ¥2,499

Total cost: U$99.15

Pretty good, huh? Unfortunately, this is only possible with a combination of the infamous "Bodyline yen trick" and magical free shipping. And I really hope that dress has pockets, because I couldn't fit in a bag.
Hope you liked my coord! Check out what other bloggers came up with for this week's LBC:

LBC: Favorite Brand

agosto 02, 2013
♦ Hello!
For this week's LBC I chose Mary Magdalene. I love this brand, they release many beautiful, classical, timeless pieces.

What do these dresses have in common? Besides being beautiful, I mean.
None of them have a single centimeter of lace! When Mary Magdalene does use lace, it tends to be wide and a prominent design feature. But look at what they are capable of doing without it. Most of MM's pieces are solid colors or have basic floral prints. Original prints are very rare in this brand. And still, they manage to create such gorgeous clothes by manipulating only fabric. This also allows for a very distinct color palette (which I tried to depict below) and a larger variety of types of fabric in comparison to other Lolita brands.
MM_WarmMM_Cool
Although it is obviously a Classic Lolita brand, many of Mary Magdalene's pieces are neutral or versatile enough that they could work very well for pretty much any other sub-style. These clothes may also be dressed up or down for outfits that could fit into other alternative or mainstream styles.

Mary Magdalene is synonymous of gorgeous and versatile A-line dresses, and although I like many pieces and the style of other brands, I think it has been my favorite Lolita brand since I got interested in this fashion.
I would love to know about your own favorite brands, please comment below!

LBC: If brands made home decor

julho 05, 2013
Hello, everyone!

This will be my first post for the Lolita Blog Carnival, although I have been part of the group for a while I never actually participated.
Anyway, this week's topic is

♦ If brands made home decor

Actually, some brands have released house items in the past, but those were somewhat isolated events. What if they took it a step further and started having a whole section dedicated to home decor?
The first thing I thought of was to take a look at the decoration of each brand's physical store. This delightful series of posts by Tokyo Rebel really helped me on that: tours around Lolita brand shops.
Of course that was a great start point, but I decided to do my own twist on what a "Lolita Brand Doll House" would look like, with each of the rooms inspired by a Lolita brand:

I apologize for my bad editing skills at 4 a.m.

♦ Moi-même-Moitié
Moitié is always too easy! I tried to make the bedroom over-the-top and dramatic as the brand presents itself, yet keeping it "livable" by adding lots of white.

♦ Putumayo
How fun is a Punk themed bathroom? The mix of prints and colors is balanced out with simple yet interesting furniture and a crystal chandelier, kinda like Lolita and Punk balance each other out.

♦ Angelic Pretty
The sweetest of Sweet brands had to take the kitchen. A white and dark chocolate tiled floor, and ice cream cone tiles for the walls. The drapes carry AP's original prints~

♦ Juliette et Justine
I went for a baroque feeling that is so characteristic of this brand. It is an elegant and cozy living room, with a few slightly eccentric touches.

Aaaand that's it! I hope you liked it, and I'm really eager to see everyone's take on this theme!

Check out what fellow lolita bloggers wrote this week!
